First Annual Fox Heath Adult
Equitation Camp
The
1st annual Fox Heath Equitation Camp was a rousing success!! Campers
included new riders, riders returning to the sport after an extended absence,
and those who have been riding their whole lives. In spite of their
differences, the group bonded immediately and enjoyed the week immensely.
The whole camp experience was extraordinary. In addition to daily mounted
Hunter Seat Equitation instruction and stimulating classroom sessions, there was
plenty of time for good food and great fun.
Daily Schedule
Each day started with a wholesome continental breakfast provided by the
campers themselves. After breakfast, everyone was more than ready for
a daily dose of Clare Harris' expert riding instruction and Sean Marie's
invaluable tutoring on 'things every rider should know'. Lunch was
another team effort that produced gourmet dishes complete with fine wine and
sumptuous desserts. The afternoon sessions offered campers the
opportunity to swim, shop, and get in touch with their inner child by
perticipating in numerous Arts and Crafts projects.
Special Activities
Several special sessions were interspersed throughout the week. These
included Betsy Harris' lesson on how to properly apply leg wraps; Becky
Harris' dressage demonstration; and Claire's hands-on demonstration of the
proper use and care of tack and riding equipment. To top it all off,
Lauren Dunn took everyone on a very enjoyable cross-country trail ride.
By the end of the week, all campers agreed that they had learned alot and
would carry these memories with them until it is time for the 2nd Annual
Adult Equitation Camp.
Campers shown in the picture from left to right: Cynthia Makarczyk,
Michelle Gallagher, Cathy McCullough, Bill McCullough, Kathleen Kelley,

Fox Heath Riders Head North to
Compete at an A Circuit Show in Vermont
East
Dorset, Vermont, a gorgeous city and an amazing place not only for vacationers,
but equestrians as well. Every summer Vermont holds the Vermont Summer Festival.
Such a prestigious horse show is one that many only dream about. But for a few
riders at Fox Heath, this dream came true.
On July 10th 2007 Lauren Massi with The Best man, Hannah Swayze and Dana
Peterson with English Rose, and Lauren Dunn with Kabel packed up everything
they could possibly fit into 2 trailers and 3 cars and headed for the
Vermont Summer Festival to compete in the biggest show of their lives. The
countryside was exquisite. They were surrounded by mountains and rolling
hills everywhere. But what marveled them the most was the beauty and
elegance of every single horse out of the hundreds at the show.
From
the moment they arrived, nothing but excitement and thrill could be felt for
being a part of this competition. Every single rider and family member that
went worked from sunup to sundown taking care of their horses and making
sure they were as happy and comfortable as possible. It was such a privilege
to have Courtney Phipps as a trainer in Vermont. Her expertise and amazing
personality helped everyone to achieve their goals of competing and pinning
in the classes.
Lauren
Massi brought home a 5th, 7th and 8th ribbon, Lauren Dunn a 4th, 5th, and
7th ribbons, Dana a 4th and two 8th place ribbons, and Hannah a 6th place
ribbon. Their stay in Vermont consisted of five days spent with the horses
all day. They couldn’t have thought of a better vacation than that. It was
such a matchless and fantastic experience for everyone. They were so proud
of their horses for really stepping up and showing off to really compete at
the level they needed to.
Everyone is anticipating with great excitement going to another major show
next summer and can only hope their horses feel the same exact way.
