                                                     RECENT EVENTS

On the spot news from the Vermont Summer Festival!!
July 1, 2009 - Fox Heath is being represented at the 2009 Vermont Summer Festival by three of our horses.
Lyra’s Compass, Rubico (Izzy), and Raspoetin V (Raz) are carrying the Fox Heath colors this year.
Today found Lyra, Izzy, and Raz all competing in Schooling Hunter.  Lyra was a good girl and placed
8th and 2nd, Raz marched right around and placed 2nd and 3rd.  (Raz got a 3rd to Lyra’s 2nd.)  Izzy decided
that Vermont is beautiful and he wanted to look at stuff outside the ring.  His second trip was much
“calmer” than his first.  Stay tuned for developments.

July 3, 2009 – The waters have receded!   After a day of intense rain/thunder the rain has slowed to a drizzle.
The show must go on!!  The class sizes have had between 30 and 50 horses in each class.   Even with the rain
everybody is having a good time.   The horses love it because it is cool (about 70 degrees).   Lyra and Raz
both placed 8th in the 2’ 6” Adult Hunter Division.  July 4th is a practice day with fireworks scheduled for tonight.

July 4, 2009 – Happy 4th of July!  This news just in… Lyra placed 6th, not 8th, yesterday.   We are hoping that in a
few more days they will upgrade her to 3rd.    (But we kind of doubt it.)

July 5, 2009 – We watched the Grand Prix horses today.  Absolutely amazing.  In a very cute move the show
had the “Lead Line” competition in the same ring before the Grand Prix jump-off.   All the kids were on full
size horses, some of their feet didn’t come below the saddle!  The winner of the jump-off had a great time
and a completely error-free round.   All the Fox Heath horses got to go on trails today.  Lots to look at and smell.
The weather was perfect and the footing was nice and firm.   Early in the week we can practice in the show rings.

July 7, 2009 – The sky is super blue this morning, little wind, and it’s 55 degrees.  Let’s go practice!  See you later.
July 7, 2009 – Later…   Schooling went well.  New people coming in so things are a bit hectic.  Lyra, Izzy, and Raz
all motored right around.  Raz left strides out and proved he can really get rolling.  We will have to decide which is
better for tomorrow; leave strides out or add.  Will make Raz decision in the AM; Lyra will add; Izzy will leave out.

July 8, 2009 – A very good day.  Lyra was the best.  Lyra pinned 1st, 2nd, and 2nd in the “New England Adult Division”
and trotted away with Champion!  How about that!!  Raz showed his stuff by pinning 1st and 5th in Schooling Hunter.
Raz then continued with a 4th and 5th in the New England Adult Division.  Raz took a couple of funny steps during the
trips, you could feel it more than see it, and is going to be looked at by the farrier and vet.  Just to be safe.
Tomorrow Izzy is to be unleashed on the competition; up against professionals.   We shall see what happens.
Stay tuned about Raz.

July 9, 2009 – It’s 8AM, Izzy is checked in for 27th in a class of 42.   Schooling hunter is busy today!  Stayed tuned.
July 9, 2009 – Later in the day – Raz and Lyra are both sound today.  Decided to give them the day off.  All is well.
Izzy did great in Schooling Hunter.  The show intermixed the Green with the Schooling Hunter so the results are not
posted yet.  Class size was close to 50 – We doubt that he placed.  However, Izzy was square to the jumps, got all
his leads, and held a good pace.   In particular his second trip went very well.   We are all proud of him.

July 10, 2009 – We started the day by honoring Sue with the singing of the “Pop Tarts” song.
There are two divisions in the Hunter ring today.  The first has 86 entries and the second has 40.  Long day ahead.
July 10, 2009 – Later in the day…   First of all Izzy placed 4th in Schooling Hunter yesterday!   Super Duper.  There were so many entries it took until today for them to finalize the scores.  This is against the pros.  Izzy then continued
his success with a 2nd and 4th in the 2’ 6” Adult Hunter, ending up as Reserve Champion…. And he didn’t even
show in the flat class.  Miss Lyra continued her very cute way of going and placed 5th in the Adult Hunter.  Raz
showed his stuff by leaving out the strides in all his classes and was the reserve horse for the second jumping class.
Izzy thinks it may have been the “Pop Tarts” song that inspired him to greatness.
