SUMMER DAY CAMP
The
Fox Heath Equitation Day Camp provides an excellent horse mastership
program for beginner, intermediate, and advanced junior riders from age
5 to 18. The camp program is designed to simulate both the
responsibilities and pleasures of horse ownership. Many campers
describe their time at our camp as 'the best summer that they have ever
had'.

Daily Riding Lessons
An integral
component of each day is the mounted Hunter Seat Equitation instruction.
Students are directed towards an achievement of skills that will enable
them to ride correctly with confidence, both cross country and in the
ring, on the flat and over fences. Campers are divided into riding
groups according to their ability and previous experience. Riding
activities include lessons, cross country rides, and Thursday Horse
Shows. Campers of all levels can participate in the weekly horse shows.
The more advanced campers will also be responsible for the show's
management.
A Wide Ranging Education
Each camper is
assigned a horse or pony at the beginning of a session. Campers will be
responsible for taking care of 'their horse' each day. Some of the
topics students will learn about through discussion periods and
practical experience are:
·
The
Proper Use and Care of Tack and Riding Equipment
·
Administering Routine Supplements and Medications
·
Grooming
& Tacking
·
Care of
Horse's Feet
·
Horse
Showing & Fox Hunting
*
Safety Rules in Handling & Working Around Horses
We offer a
progressive program. As students advance they move up in their riding
groups. Topics vary throughout the eight weeks so as not to be
repetitive. Each two week session is complete, yet different from the
others in the riding skills offered and information given.
Arts
and Crafts
Campers
participate in an Arts and Crafts program which includes many creative
activities, all with a horsy theme.
